Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, aka Slim Shady has been a controversial figure ever since his debut album The Slim Shady LP in 1999. With no deference to political correctness, Eminem ruthlessly criticized everything from his ex-wife to the Insane Clown Posse; from his own mother to Tipper Gore. The “establishment” hated him, but young people around the world were instantly drawn to him. Love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny the influence he has had on hip-hop and on the music world at large.

It was difficult to decide on my favorite song from his first single “My Name Is” to his latest hit, “Crack a Bottle,” but at the end of the day, I had to go with “Without Me” from his 2002 album The Eminem Show. In this song, he cleverly pokes fun at a long list of critics like Dick Cheney and electronic artist Moby.
