TSG’s Fall TV Preview: Part 2
TSG did a gargantuan post yesterday about all the great shows coming this Fall to Network Television. It was exhausting to write, seriously; especially because there’s no way I could watch all of the shows I featured but this will be a little lighter. Thank goodness.
Today, I’ll preview Cable series coming this Fall, some of which have already started. Tomorrow I’ll do Premium Cable so if you’re wondering where all your HBO and Showtime series are, they’re coming tomorrow!
Here we go:
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – It’s back tomorrow! I’m a big fan of this show and cannot wait for another season. Between this and the Thursday night line-up on NBC, TSG’s friends won’t be able to get a hold of him on Thursday nights – unless they come join me in front of my TV because I’ll have a good 4.5 hours of TV to watch.
Sons of Anarchy – The boys of SAMCRO came back last night to FX and have some new company. In addition to Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Katey Sagal (Married with Children, Futurama), Henry Rollins of Black Flag and Rollins Band fame joins the cast. This should be an explosive second season. If you enjoy Gangland on History Channel, especially when they document motorcycle games, this a must-watch show for you.
Nip/Tuck – Season 6 is coming to FX in October. People are hooked on this show as well. FX is producing some addicting shows and this is just another in its stable. I’ve been meaning to give this show a few views but haven’t as of yet but maybe this season will be the season.
Archer – I believe this is a first for the FX channel but Archer is an animated spy series featuring lots of faces you’d recognize if it weren’t animated like Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock), Jessica Walter (Arrested Development) and Aisha Tyler (CSI, Talk Soup). This is a spy comedy about an international spy agency who’s agents confuse, betray and throw each other under the bus. This, should be good. No definite word on when this series debuts, just sometime in the Fall.
White Collar – USA is really making a name for itself by producing critically acclaimed series starting way back with Monk and continuing with Psych and most recently this Summer’s two big hits, Burn Notice and Royal Pains. White Collar is a bit reminiscent of Catch Me If You Can. A white collar criminal escapes prison to track down his FBI agent girlfriend only to be nabbed by the FBI agent that put him away in the first place. But, instead of going back to jail, the criminal is put to work catching other white collar criminals. Also kind of derivative of Silence of the Lambs, but only the ‘criminals catching criminals because they know how criminals operate’ thing. You understand…
Mad Men – The 3rd season of Mad Men has already been going since August but if I didn’t mention it I’m sure half our users would form any angry mob and attack me. People love this show that much. Sterling Cooper should see some crazy stuff this season, well crazier than usual. And lots and lots of cigarette smoke. Yummy.
Breaking Bad – Can’t mention much about Breaking Bad as no Season 3 debut date has been set but it could be as late as the Winter, most likely on the heels of the Mad Men finale. But again, if I don’t mention it, our users might kill me – because it is that good of a show.
Top Chef: Las Vegas – FOOD! They say don’t go grocery shopping when you’re hungry, don’t watch shows about cooking when you’re hungry either. Of course this isn’t as bad as stuff on the Food Network because of all the competition involved but cooking for high-end restaurants in Las Vegas is sure to make some people crack. Don’t miss out on the fun!
Project Runway – TSG doesn’t watch Lifetime, TSGal might but not TSG. However, this is a huge show even after switching networks and if you’re into fashion, you watch this show. I guess that’s why TSG doesn’t watch it?
As always, feel free to include anything I left out and let me know what you think about the shows I didn’t leave out.
Happy watching. Premium tomorrow!
