TSG’s Year in Review: Entertainment
What a crazy year all around the world of Entertainment. We had sudden stars like Susan Boyle, Kris Allen and Kevin Skinner. Jon & Kate Gosselin, Octomom, Chris Brown & Rhianna, David Letterman and Tiger Woods dominated the tabloids. And, we lost some notable entertainers.
2009′s Summer of Death took more celebrities than any time in recent memory. In a very quick time we lost Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays, Michael Jackson, Ted Kennedy, Natasha Richardson, Brittany Murphy, Bea Arthur, David Carradine, and Patrick Swayze…and that’s not even a complete list!
It was a fun year in television as shows like The Office, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Family Guy, 30 Rock, House, Lost, and Mad Men kept the head of steam they’ve had going for the past several years while newer shows like The Big Bang Theory (in it’s 3rd season), Modern Family, Community, Hung and others did very well for themselves.
A few reality shows made their mark like Jersey Shore, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, Tool Academy and Tough Love. While established reality staples like American Idol, The Biggest Loser, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, and America’s Got Talent stayed as popular as ever.
In late night, Conan O’Brien took over The Tonight Show and Jay Leno basically got a brand new show where he does exactly the same thing he used to do an hour and a half earlier.
In movies, the Twilight series continues to take it’s fair share of the box office while The Blindside, Funny People, Star Trek, Inglourious Basterds, Where the Wild Things Are, Precious, 2012, Taken, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Avatar were the big movies of 2009.
Oh, and we got a new President! Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States.
Man, can’t wait to see what happens next year….
What rocked your world in 2009?
