Enter Swagstakes Over & Over...ONCE!

How many Swagstakes have you entered wishing you had more Swag Bucks to enter with to better your chances? Well, in some way, we've helped you with that because now you a) don't have to keep going back to the prize screen over and over to enter multiple times and b) you get DISCOUNTS for entering more than once!

For example, the screencap at the top of this post was taken from the PS3 Swagstakes ending this Monday. You'll note that if you enter 5 times, you save 1 Swag Buck, if you enter 10 times you save 3 Swag Bucks! If you enter 50 times....you save 30 Swag Bucks!

So given that little nugget of info, peruse the Swagstakes again to see what you really want as a lot of them are ending sooooooooon!

Hourly Random Winner Favs

Hourly Random Winners are one of the neat features here at Swagbucks. But sometimes, what's even better than giving 5 Swag Bucks to some random joe or jane is discovering all over again the unique user names our users have.

Here's one of my favs...

Have you seen any HRWs (Hourly Random Winners) with fun or entertaining user names?

Share them in the comments and perhaps some of these innovative Swaggernauts will happen by the blog and explain the inspiration behind the awesomeness that is their Swag Name.

Making Swag Codes Easier to Understand

We got some great feedback from my last Swag Codes post including some awesome ideas that you just may see put into practice. Here are some comments from users from our last blog that we'd like to get you opinion on:

1) Anonymous:
"It might be a big help if you had a first time user swagcode and swaghunt that are permenantly up. You could email beginners where to go/start. When you first start, getting swagbucks is frustrating. I just saw my first swagcode 2 days ago. I still don't get the swaghunt thing."

2) Kerlo:

"Maybe do a New user Swagcode hunt. As part of the signup process have a dynamically generated swagcode somewhere on the site which is only useable by them. You can provide a hint as to where it is when providing them with the hunt instructions.
You can even make it a separate webpage that only first time users can get to it. Once the code has been redeemed, they can no longer reach that site."

3) Jen:
"A new user email w/ tutorial links would be great...something like "Learn about swagcodes..." and you could even have it lead to a new-user-only swagcode. Although you'd have to make it so that code didn't get abused. Add to the swagcode page a link to an example of how to find the swagcodes/solve the swaghunts.
At the very least, add to the swagcode page an example of a past swagcode so that the noobs can understand what kind of "string of text" they are looking for."

4) Kelly4nya:
"It would be VERY EASY 4 SB members, & ONLY MEMBERS, to know if there's a Code in effect, or not, if u would post a phrase that says something like: "THERE ARE NO CODES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME." ~or~ " SWAG CODE AVAILABLE NOW." Then post the phrase either next 2~ under~ or above~ the "ENTER A SWAG CODE" box on the HOME page. This way, we will ALWAYS know if there's a code available or not. AND by doing this, MEMBERS ONLY will be messaged, no 1 else. Plus, no 1 can complain & say that they didn't know there was a code in effect, cuz it would always be stated right next to their "Enter Swag Code" box."

Tell us what you think in this poll:

It's no guarantee we'll adopt one of these suggestions but we've used user ideas in the past and often so I hope you chose wisely!

Thanks again for all the great feedback.

Twitter Tuesday Phrase That Pays Winner- 7/29/09

Maybe its because the number of followers we have keeps growing, maybe its because you guys tweet like crazy or maybe you guys are just really creative (I think it may be all 3) but it was so hard to pick from all the great tweets this week! If you thought you had a really great one and I didn't pick it, you probably did, here are the ones that jumped out at me. I apologize in advance if your amazing tweet wasn't included.

First the honorable mentions:

"@Swagbucks Most people don't know Christopher Columbus actually had 4 ships. The 4th ship (The Swagship) was the first to reach America." from Mike H. of Kent, WA

"
@Swagbucks I like that boom boom pow, Them pirates be jackin' my style, They try copy my SWAGSHIP, I'm on that next ship now" from Cindy Wu of Quincy, MA

Now the big winner of 50 Swag Bucks!
"If yer darin', you scallySwags can hop aboard the flagship Swagship @Swagbucks. But be careful or ya may end up walkin da plank! Arrrrr!" from Kentucky Swagger, Frank S.

Congratulations to the winner, the honorable mentions and the rest of you for giving me such great stuff to read!

Until we tweet again...

Reverse Auction: Take Two

Today's auction went in the blink of an eye! Which is great because it went far better than we could have expected. But, at the same time its unfortunate for all you Swaggers because we never even got to lower the price. For that reason, we're giving away ANOTHER pair of headphones tomorrow. This reverse auction will start at 11AM PDT as it did today. The difference is if tomorrow's auction goes on the first opening bid as it did today, we'll have another prize ready to auction off right behind it. So no matter what happens, we won't be done in 10 minutes.

We'll be starting these Elitronix Noise Cancellation Headphones at 500 Swag Bucks and dropping the price by 25 Swag Bucks every half hour. Once the auction starts you'll be able to find these in the Electronics section of the Swag Store.

Better luck tomorrow!

TSG

Reverse Auction Today!

Hey Swaggernauts, we'll be reverse auctioning these wireless headphones off today. We actually are moving back the start time of this auction 1 hour, so it'll be starting at 11AM PDT instead of 10AM PDT.

We'll load the prize in the Swag Store when the auction starts, you'll be able to find it in the Electronics section so keep an eye out!

Good luck!

Ask The Swag Gal (July 29, 2009)

Wednesday again?! Boy does time fly. That could only mean one thing.... this little gal is back for another round of questions! So here we go...

Our question today comes from Jennifer C. from Silverdale, WA. She asked,

I've recently started a bucket list (not b/c I'm sick, just b/c there are things I really want to do in this life), and I was wondering: do you have any things you would really like to accomplish in life that might be bucket-list-worthy?

Thanks, Jennifer. I love this question because I have always had this "bucket-list" idea at the back of my mind- even more-so after watching the movie, but have never thought it through enough to write it down. Mr. Freeman and Mr. Nicholson sure do make you think, don't they? What a perfect opportunity for me to think about and share my "One Day I Will" wishes with you. Here are 10 things I hope to do before I pass on to the next life:

1. Skydive. (again.. did this once in Switzerland--still researching where my next adventure will be! Any recommendations?)
2. Learn how to salsa dance. (I tend to get inspired by Dancing With The Stars!)
3. Take a trip to India, Vietnam, Singapore & Japan.
4. Take a cruise around the Greek Isles.
5. Spend a month in the French countryside.
6. Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. (This would definitely require that I get in better physical shape!)
7. Swim with sharks.
8. A helicopter & elephant ride in Africa. (Yes-both.)
9. Learn a new language.. preferably French. Women in French films are always so sexy!
10. Visit the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. (Hello Great Pyramid of Giza!!)

Okay so those are mine thus far, but the list is always changing and rearranging. What about all of you? I'd love to hear some of your bucket-list worthy "hope-to-do's" and maybe add some to my list!

Keep sending me your questions at theswaggal@swagbucks.com.

See you on Friday friends! :)

Swag Nation Fights Spam.

Okie doke, here's the skinny...too much spam. We LOVE having enthusiastic users that are eager to get referrals and love nothing more than to spread the gospel of Swag. But, some users (we have no idea who) go too far to the extent of spamming. Everyone hates spam.

The real kicker about this is that it's starting to adversely affect Swagbucks. MySpace has disabled all links we put in blogs and bulletins and people have been flagging completely original and completely legitimate videos on YouTube. This hurts not only Swagbucks as a site but also the Swagbucks community.

A lot of times people aren't sure what the acceptable way to promote is or what the line is before its considered spam. I would highly encourage you to use the following:

Swidget - You can place this on your OWN sites & blogs and this is a one-stop referral shop that will allow to refrain from spamming message boards, blog comments, & other social networking sites.

Promote Page - Grab the IMG code from the banner of your choosing and you can use these in blog comments and forums in completely legal & sanctioned ways because it's part of your signature and not the entirety of your contribution to that board.

Share Buttons - Every time you win Swag Bucks you can tell friends on MySpace, Facebook, blog followers, etc. all about by simply clicking share. This is a completely non-spam promotion that isn't irksome to do or see. It also shows that people win Swag Bucks all the time.

Invite a Friend - Chances are, if you have someone's email address, there's a mutual trust and you're not sending them mass mailings of bunk material. If you have a friend or a few friends that'd probably into Swagbucks and redeeming free prizes, use this feature and personalize it. It makes a real difference ;-)

To get a full understanding of what is and what is not ok, I implore you to reference our Do's & Don'ts page. This gives you a complete list of good & bad practices so you'll be in the clear when you're sharing the Swag Love.

Sometimes there's a fine line between posting a link and spamming, but for the most part...you know......YOOOUUU KNOOOOWW ;-)

Twitter Tuesday Phrase That Pays - 7/28

Tuesday is here again which means its time for Twitter Tuesday & the Twitter Tuesday Phrase That Pays! If you're new to Twitter Tuesday here at Swagbucks, basically what you do is include the Phrase That Pays in a tweet and include an @Swagbucks mention (this ensures your tweet will be a contender for the 50 Swag Bucks).

Using this week's Phrase That Pays as an example, which is Swagship, here's a sample of what it might look like:

"@Swagbucks sails the seven seas with their Swagship leading the way!"

Hopefully yours is more creative and less corny than that but hopefully you get the gist of it.

So there you are, we announce the winner tomorrow in this very blog. Use the Phrase That Pays in a sentence and you, yes you, could win 50 Swag Bucks!

More About Swag Codes

We've been running various Swag Code themed blogs over the past week in an effort to alleviate any confusion and frustration to new and old users alike. We've heard a lot of great ideas on how we could make Swag Codes more user-friendly and we want to thank everybody who's participated in this discussion.

Now that everyone has had a chance to share their thoughts about Swag Codes, we need to come together as a community and find creative ways to message Swag Codes more effectively to new users on Swagbucks.com. The point here is that future visitors should not find Swag Codes as confusing as our current visitors do.

Over the last few weeks and months, we have made several changes to how we discuss Swag Codes. For starters, we created a Swag Code explanation page which you can view here. We also changed the slides on Swagbucks.com so that every new visitor can learn about Swag Codes - it's the 3rd slide that new visitors (or logged out users) see.

What I'd like to know from our newest users is, did you see that slide on Swagbucks.com? If so, was the page that we created helpful in answering where to find Codes, and how to redeem them? What, in your opinion, could we change about the way we message Swag Codes so that they're less confusing?

Now we understand that many of you would like Swag Codes to be worth more, and last longer. I'll address some of those points below. But even if we made those changes, that won't make Swag Codes easier for new users to grasp. That being the case, we'd love to hear your ideas about how we message Swag Codes. Some possible suggestions include:

  • Special emails to all new users describing Swag Codes and how they work
  • New playlist on YouTube with concrete examples of Codes in various locations
  • Revising the Swag Code page to feature more details and examples
  • etc.
Perhaps you might be able to think up an idea or two that involve user-generated content, or other community tools to help us address the confusion that new users feel. Be as creative as possible and don't be afraid to suggest something new, and unusual.

Now, there are a few points about Swag Codes themselves that should be mentioned:

1) Swag Codes are bonus features of our network. While we love to give out Codes, and do our best to make them exciting and fun, we cannot give out unlimited Swag Codes, nor can we necessarily give them out every day. There are most certainly days where we don't give any Swag Codes at all. Conversely, there are days when we give several. It is up to our discretion.

2) Swag Codes will not be run all day. There are exceptions to this, but the reason is because Swag Codes are meant to reward people for happen to be on our network at random times during the day. In very rare cases we might run an all day code or something of that nature but ultimately, you will miss some Swag Codes. But as long as you check back in with Swagbucks semi-regularly, we are certain that you will Snag more than a few of them.

3) Except in rare cases, you will not be notified when Swag Codes will be happening. As I stated above, Swag Codes are meant to be bonus rewards for people who are lucky enough to be on our network at the right place and time. If we told everybody when the codes would be coming, we'd have many people showing up ONLY for the codes. So while we may occassionaly let you know when a code is coming, the random appearance of codes is perhaps the most vital and fun part of Swag Codes.

4) Every now and again we do Swag Codes at what might seem like strange hours of the day. We're not trying to encourage you to not sleep, but rather we have users from Hawaii to England and sometimes we try to do a specially timed code for those folks. If you happen to be in front of your computer during one of those Codes, then of course you should snag the bonus bucks, regardless of where you live. But if you miss one of those hunts, please remember that there are always going to be more Codes for you to find.

OK. That's all I've got for now. Awaiting your helpful words.

Want These Headphones?

Fun, fun, fun! You might be wondering what the picture above is. Well, they're Unisar BebeSounds TV777 Listener Wireless Headphones. These work with any audio device and they're great for the hearing impaired or just couples that have differing sleep schedules.

We'll be reverse auctioning them off at Swagbucks this week. This means we'll start the headphones at a certain price and lower the price sporadically throughout the day until someone snags them. We're only carrying this one pair so if you want to sit around and wait for the price to get as low as it can, you might want to reconsider because someone might snatch them up before you and that'll be that.

Keep your eyes peeled for the auction this week!

Swag Codes Explained: Follow-up

Hey Swaggernauts, you'll recall yesterday I gave sort of a comprehensive overview of Swag Codes and then we had a fun little Swag Hunt today for further practice. Now I turn to you guys in the Swagbucks community.

Beyond the Swag Codes page and yesterday's blog, how do you think we can decrease confusion on Swag Codes for new users and make hunts and codes as inclusive as possible? Go ahead and leave a comment with suggestions, ideas, thoughts, even concerns and we'll read and digest them all.

We love our users because often times, its our users that direct our site to be as successful and user-friendly as it can possibly be, so who better to ask?

Have You Been to My-err, OUR Space?

Our new branch of Swag Nation had an enriching day yesterday as we had a very generous Swag Code available to MySpace friends only. Get over there and add us if you haven't.

In my last blog post about MySpace I mentioned that we resolved our friend request issues meaning that our friend requests were all now coming through. What I failed to mention is that if you tried to add us while the problem was still going on you had to add us again. My apologies for not clarifying.

We'll have random profile picks every day during the week where we award 10 Swag Bucks if that user has us in their top friends and we'll have Swag Codes available exclusively to MySpace friends and also as part of Swag Code Hunts so make sure you're friends with Swagbucks!

The Swag Store Gets a Re-organization!

If you head over to the Swag Store you may notice a few less categories on the left hand navigation. This is because we've just begun a major re-organization of the Swag Store that includes many sub-categories. So, for example, if you are now looking for Star Wars collectibles, you can find these under the 'Collectibles' category. If you are looking for the Capitol Records Swag, you can find that under the "Music & Band" swag category. This new organization should make it more intuitive to find what you want without having a page that is flooded with random sub-categories (no prizes have been removed). To coincide with this re-organization, we will be adding more prizes to the store. Stay tuned for an awesome new section being added as I type - we think you will like it!!

Goin' On A Swag Hunt!

In yesterday's blog about Swag Codes, I explained a bit about how Swag Codes worked and briefly alluded throughout to Swag Hunts. Well, what better day to try one out so you guys can get some practice?

Since we're goin' "huntin", that's the code today BUT, the letters will be randomly cased. To find the letters you'll need to follow us on Twitter, know your way around our Facebook page and browse the Swag Store. Here's a hint for the Swag Store portion of the hunt, I referenced some items in the Swag Store in an earlier blog post today.

This code is expiring at 1:30PM PDT and is good on any Search&Win site.

Start huntin'!

Ask The Swag Gal (July 24, 2009)

Good Morning Friends!!

The Swag Gal here reporting for another Friday installment of Ask The Swag Gal. Today's question requires a lengthy response, so let's get right to it! Shruti R., from Houston, Texas asked:

My friends and i are always wondering what types of clothes we should wear to flatter our body type and our skin tone. I was just wondering if you had any ideas on the the colors that would flatter each body type, hair color, and skin tone!

As you know, Shruti, we all come in different shapes and sizes (thank goodness! Wouldn't life be boring if we all looked the same?!) What may look good on one person, may not look good on the next and vice-versa. It is hard sometimes to find things that compliment each of our body types, but that's where I come in! While I am pretty knowledgeable about fashion, I did have to do some research... here is what I found.

Dressing for Each Body Shape

Round Figures :
  • V-Necks help to elongate and slenderize
  • Avoid fitted tops
  • Fitted skirts are flattering and accentuate your legs

Pear-Shaped Figures:
  • Flowing pants and straight skirts help to de-emphasize your hips
  • Cowl and square necklines will help broaden your shoulders

Hour Glass Figures:
  • Draw attention to your waist by wearing pants with a contoured waistband, belts, or wrap tops that sit just at your waist, is a great way to accentuate your assets
  • Girls.. you can get away with pretty much anything

Straight Figures:
  • Long jackets will help lengthen your upper torso
  • Necklines that fall below your collarbone will help elongate your neck
  • Straight tailored skirts and skirts with a dropped waist will help slenderize
Colors That Complement Different Skin Tones & Hair Color

There are two types of skin tones: Warm & Cool. Click here to figure out your skin tone! Warm skin tones are complimented by "warm" colors like red, orange, yellow (think "fire"!), brown and pink. Cool skin tones are complimented by blues, purples, greens & greys (think water & ocean!).

The most important thing for any girl, any size, with any body type, with any hair color... is that you're beautiful!

OF COURSE...the issue of body types is not only limited to women. Men face the same dilemmas as we do! (They just may not know it... or care for that matter.) For those of you guys out there who do happen to care... here are some tips!

Tall Men
:
  • Horizontal lines will make you appear more substantial and less lanky
  • Try patterns that are spaced far apart to give you a more balanced, proportionate look

Short Men:
  • Avoid eye-catching detail, as to ensure a "smooth" appearance from head to toe
  • Wearing jacket and pants of the same color will elongate your body. (Light/dark combination cuts you in half, making you appear shorter)
  • Wear pants at normal waistline and try out some suspenders! This will increase the apparent length of your legs
For the rest of you guys out there (obviously there are more body types than just "tall" and "short", check out this blog. It gets right down to every detail. There is apparently an art to "manliness". ha!

Happy Dressing!

As Per Your Request: Swag Codes, Explained

You guys voted and Swag Codes will be the topic of today's blog post designed to help our loyal Swagbucks users.

Before you read on, see this page that we've designed for this very reason and if that doesn't answer all your questions...read on.

Swag Codes are helpful words & sometimes phrases valid for varying amounts of times for users to redeem for varying amounts of Swag Bucks. The fun of them is that they can happen at any time (so for those of you that complain that a certain code isn't fair because you weren't around, that's just the luck of the draw, you'll get some & miss others - that's just how Swag Codes work) on any page of Swagbucks or any of our affiliated websites (partner Search&Win sites, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Flickr, etc.). Sometimes, we'll do Swag Code Hunts which are essentially scavenger hunts either for clues or pieces of the code. We'll hide these in item descriptions in prizes in our Swag Store, random places on our Social Media pages; like in the description of unnamed YouTube videos or Facebook discussions, sometimes we even put codes or parts of codes in poll comments from the polls at our polls page! We also put clues and sometimes the code in our Swag Bucks Widget.

Here's a complete breakdown of where to find Swag Codes:
Blog - We'll either give you a code, give you clues that form a code or start a hunt, like this one, here.
Facebook - Much like the blog we can give clues here, give hints here or hide codes or hints in discussions, comments, etc. but mostly they're status updates.
Twitter - These are often very short, timely codes but sometimes Twitter is part of a hunt or we'll give codes here too.
YouTube - If we don't put codes in videos like we did with this video, we'll put it on our channel or in a description of a video. Sometimes we even comment on random videos and part of the comment is a code! (don't worry, we announce things like this)
Flickr - We have tons of photos but we use the photo or its caption as part of a code, a whole code or a hint to a code
MySpace - Most of the time we'll have MySpace friends only codes in bulletins and so forth but you may find parts to codes here as well from hunts.
Swagbucks.com - This is the widest possibility of code spots. We can put them in coupons in Shop&Earn, store items in the Swag Store, in comments in polls on our polls page or any of our partner sites. For example, recently we did a code on Todd's Gear Bag.
Widget (Swidget) - Most of the time the Swidget will just let you know a code is out and where to go for clues, but sometimes we give Swidget exclusive codes out here.

Giving out, sharing or posting active codes is NEVER PERMITTED. Even if we flat out state the code if you share it on a site we didn't post it, you're allowing all users who are not affiliated with us on the page we gave the code on to redeem the code, which defeats the whole purpose of the Swag Code. If you're caught distributing, sharing, or posting Swag Codes, your account will be deactivated and you will be hanged in a public square, ok...just the first one.

I hope this was helpful, Swaggernauts, please leave comments with additional questions about Swag Codes which I'll address in comments and also feel free to add onto anything I may not have covered as it concerns Swag Codes.

Twitter Trivia Today!

We'll be playing Twitter Trivia today on our Twitter page at 3:30PM PDT. If you haven't played before, it's a lot of fun and even if you don't win, you'll learn a lot AND, we MIGHT offer different prizes today than usual.

Be sure to get there a bit early and have your Swagbucks search engine open so you can be quick on the (virtual) buzzer.

Here's how we play trivia:

TSG will ask a question via tweet. To participate, reply to the tweet, NOT direct message, there will be a curved arrow under the star when you roll over a tweet, that's how you reply OR you can simply write @Swagbucks in the box that says 'What are you doing?'.

After you do that, put in the answer to the question and remember to put in the ENTIRE answer. Almost all questions are multiple parts, if you don't answer ALL parts of the question your answer will not be counted even if you get the part you submitted right (I said this last week and STILL got people giving partial answers).

If you win a question, TSG will Direct Message you so check your inbox after TSG has said that the winners have been DM'd because it could be you!

That's about it, the questions could be about ANYTHING. I might ask you how to reassemble a carburator, just sayin'...

What Can We Do For You?

We asked what topics could we cover to enrich your Swagbucks user experience and you guys were a HUGE help. We got a ton of responses and now have a MUCH better idea of what we can do for you.

You'll notice my use of the collective "we". By "we", I mean myself, Team Swagbucks & most especially the Swagbucks community. We handle most, if not all things here at Swagbucks, as a community. This will be no different.

I've narrowed down the topics you guys submitted to probably the four most commonly asked from yesterday's blog and would love if you guys could vote on which topic you feel needs to be covered in depth.

The winning topic will get the star treatment by TSG and Swagbucks users alike to assist all those who have even the slightest confusion.

So ready to help. I'm excited, haha.

Not only did it crack the Trending Topics, but TSG saw it as high as #4! And who knows? After all that excitement I'm sure you guys want to get down to business and who could blame you? Here are the Twitter Tuesday honorable mentions and winners.

First the honorable mentions:

And now the big winner of 50 Swag Bucks!

Great tweets and why to really get after the Phrase That Pays! We wouldn't be where we are without all you guys.

Ask The Swag Gal (July 22, 2009)

Good morning Swag Nation! We're nearly half way through another week (is it just me, or has this week just zoomed by?) which means it's time for more tips and advice from me, The Swag Gal.

Today's question comes from Matt D. from Marysville, CA. He asked:

What would be the best present to get a girl?

If there's one thing every girl loves, it's receiving gifts! For those guys out there getting a little bit nervous reading this, stop sweating. Gifts don't have to cost an arm and a leg. In fact, they can be very inexpensive and girls can be easier to please than you think. Of course there are certain things that appeal to specific age groups, but here are some things that all gals love!

Perfume: All girls love to smell good . Choose the perfect scents for her!

Flowers : Nothing says I care like some tulips. Nothing says I love you like some red roses. :)

Candles: Tuberose and jasmine are two scents that will never fail!

Manicure/Pedicure: You are pampering her AND treating her to a little gift.

Cook her dinner: She will appreciate the gesture AND you can show off your culinary skills! And if you're one of those guys that doesn't know his way around the kitchen, you could always snag a gift card in the Swag Store for Restaurant.com

Create a coupon book: If you're really low on cash, (I feel ya, we're all trying to cut back), make her a little book full of "Good for 1" pages. For example: "This entitles you to one back massage".

Remember guys, between the Swag Store, Shop&Earn Mall, and Comparison Shopping tool, Swag Bucks makes it easy to find that perfect something for the special woman in your life. And if you have some more good ideas for Matt that I've overlooked, be sure to leave a comment and let us know. Good luck!

:)

Discover New Music (through a Swag Code Hunt!)

Howdy late night Swaggernauts! Are you ready for a Swag Code hunt? Alright then, this one ends at 7:30am PST and its worth 1 Swag Buck and hidden within a prize detail page in the "Discover New Music" category. The code is hidden on the prize detail page of Team Swag Bucks member Buck Swagson's favorite artist, so if you feel like discovering a new artist, use your free buck to snag a great MP3! Ok, so without further ado here are your clues:

a) This artist is from Portland, ORE

b) This artist frequently records and tours with Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley and Cat Power.

c) This artist performed live on Craig Kilborn's tv show playing guitar for Bright Eyes (a performance which prompted a Newsweek article to be published on this artist)

If you need some help finding the artist, do some creative searches at Swagbucks.com - we are confident you can find the answer. Good luck!

UPDATE: THIS CODE IS EXPIRED.

Lost? Confused? Pro Swaggers Help!

Whether or not you're new to Swagbucks, we'd love to know what might be confusing you about the site, our Swag Codes, contests or anything else. We'll take some of the most popular responses and dedicate entire blog posts to them to help you guys out.

Go ahead and leave a comment of things you could definitely use some help or clarification on and we'll take care of you. Also, when we post the blogs in response to these comments, feel free to comment on those with any additional help you can offer new Swaggers.

That said, what's confusing you?

Are We In Your Top Friends?

I hope you've friended us on MySpace, further than that, I hope we're in your Top Friends on MySpace. Every day during the week I have been picking random MySpace profiles from our ever-expanding friends list and either awarding 10 Swag Bucks for seeing Swagbucks in their top friends or, you know....not.

I post a bulletin every day telling the MySpace branch of Swag Nation if the profile picked that day was a winner or not so if you don't want the be the one to let hundreds of people down, put Swagbucks in your top friends (half kidding about letting people down).

We'll see what happens with the random profile today....

P.S. We know that some of you for some reason have not been able to get to the page or add us, we're in talks with MySpace trying to see what's going on so don't worry. :)

T-Shirt Contest Updates

Hey Swaggers, we've been getting a lot of submissions for the T-shirt contest and SOME of them are good. I just want to reiterate some of the rules of the contest.

Here are a couple of quick rules and facts about the contest:

1. To submit a photo you must have snagged a Swag Bucks T-Shirt! Users who haven't redeemed a shirt cannot enter the contest. But don't worry, you have plenty of time to earn a Swag Bucks Shirt and get your photo in on time.

2. Send your photo(s) to tshirtcontest@swagbucks.com (see this page for details on how to label your photos).

3. Each Swaggernaut may submit a maximum of 2 pictures in either, or both of the categories (i.e. Hot Spots & Landmarks). Swag Bucks will not be given under any circumstance for more than 2 photos per user.

4. You may NOT photoshop your picture to create a deceptive illusion involving wearing your shirt.

5. You may NOT submit another Swaggernaut's photos as your own.

6. You will NOT receive Swag Bucks for failing to follow rules 4 or 5. Flagrant violations may result in disciplinary action.

7. Winners will be chosen on Tuesday, September 1st by 12:00 pm pdt.

We have definitely received submissions that are nowhere near in compliance with these rules. The main violations are people who haven't redeemed Swagbucks shirts and people Photoshopping (sometimes poorly) backgrounds or the shirts themselves.

For a complete list of rules, see this blog post we posted last week and the T-Shirt Contest official page.

Twitter Tuesday Phrase That Pays - 7/21

In the throes of summer heat and leisure, I can't think of a better Phrase That Pays than Swaggywood! The Blockbuster Movies are out as we're in the thick of it, Vinny Chase & the boys of Entourage are back; Swaggywood couldn't come at a better time.

If you're new to Swagbucks or Twitter. Here's how to participate.

1) Sign up for a free account at Twitter.com, follow Swagbucks Twitter page.
2) Enter a tweet in the box where Twitter asks "What Are You Doing?". Use the TTPTP (Twitter Tuesday Phrase That Pays) in a sentence.
3) Include "@Swagbucks" somewhere in that same tweet. Yes, use the 'at' symbol and Swagbucks, we had some confusion about this last week. To make it easy on you, find a tweet from us and reply to it using the curved arrow below the star, this will automatically start your tweet with "@Swagbucks"
4) Press Update.

That's it! You can repeat those steps with different tweets as often as you like and it'll probably help your chances.

"Oh hey TSG, what's at stake here?"

50 Swag Bucks! We pick a winner every week and every week that lucky Swaggernaut gets 50 Swag Bucks, so if you needed something to tweet for...there it is....

Tweet away!

Trading Card Heaven (aka The Swag Store)

If you hadn't already guessed it, one of the popular hobbies among the inner circle of Swaggernauts is that of collecting trading cards. Baseball, football, hockey, basketball, non-sport - whatever, we get a kick out of them all! It always also gives us great pleasure to add more awesome cards and unopened packs into the Swag Store, and just yesterday we added over 20 new packs of cards, and three dozen cards of superstars and hall of famers! For as low as 10 Swag Bucks you can snag yourself some amazing cards - check them out here (and let us know if there are players or cards that we need to add!)

Swagbucks Newsletter

We just released the latest edition of our newsletter last week and some had problems receiving it. Well, TSG is here to help. Make sure the newsletter didn't end up in a spam/junk folder of some sort. Also, be sure to add prodege.noreply@us.edir4.com to your safe email addresses in your email settings.

One more thing, we had a code in the newsletter and when people couldn't redeem it some users started posting links to the web version on the Facebook wall. This is against terms of service and even though it was an effort to try to help those who subscribed that didn't receive the newsletter. The code was specific to subscribers and posting the web version allows everyone to see the code. I didn't deactivate anyone because of the circumstances but just a notice for the future, posting codes or links to codes is ALWAYS against the rules.

If you would like to subscribe to the newsletter see the image above and sign up at the link in the sidebar on the Swagbucks homepage.

XBox 360 Arcade Winner & New Console Giveaway!

We had a TON of entries for the XBox 360 Arcade and now 1 person is sure to be the envy of all of Swag Nation. That person is Michael D. of Satellite Beach, FL. We had a whole lot of people enter many, many times. I know it can be a bummer to throw in SO many entries and not win, but when everyone is also entering a bunch it's not so easy to win. That's the nature of the beast with raffles, sweepstakes and yes...Swagstakes.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to be able to offer up prizes that so many people would love to have though. Thanks again to our friends at VPGames.com for that. That said, we have another one...RIGHT NOW!

Here are the results of the poll to see which console you guys wanted a chance to win in the next Swagstakes and you'll see the PSP took it by a landslide!

Ok, maybe not a landslide, but by a considerable amount. At any rate, the people have spoken and you can enter the PSP Swagstakes in the Swag Store right now for just 2 Swag Bucks per entry.

See it here now. This Swagstakes will end next Monday, July 27th.

Good luck!

Swagstakes Winners!

Another week has come and gone and for my money, there's no better way to end a week than giving a bunch of stuff away. Every week we give one lucky Swaggernaut 100 Swag Bucks. This week, Allison L. of Staten Island, NY is that lucky Swaggernaut. For an entry of just 1 Swag Buck, Allison raked in serious swaggage and now has a much wider selection of prizes to redeem in the Swag Store. Congratulations, Allison!

We also gave away this beautiful Greg Bennett guitar. Preston W. of Biloxi, MS. Preston is quite lucky because Greg Bennett makes a mean guitar. This D 5 CE Electric/Acoustic guitar is an incredible instrument to own. It's even better if you get it for free!

Congrats again to Allison & Preston. If you want sweet prizes like this, you can always enter the 100 Swagstakes every week and remember that our XBox 360 Arcade Swagstakes ends tomorrow and we have 1 more Greg Bennett guitar Swagstakes. The Greg Bennett AV3 Electric guitar Swagstakes ends a week from today, so get your entries in for that as well. Just 1 Swag Buck to enter!

See all Swagstakes prizes here.

The Polls: Swaggers Call 'Em!

You may recall that a month or so ago I asked you guys what you thought about the idea of Swaggernauts choosing which polls they wanted to see. Well, we thought we'd dip our toe in the water a little and try a small experiment. Visit the Swag Bucks Polling Station this weekend and see some recent polls that have been submitted to Swag Bucks. Your job is to vote up or vote down polls as you see fit. The poll idea with the most up votes will be featured on the polls page along with the other 5 we choose.

Now keep in mind, you are voting for the TOPICS of the poll, the options for the poll will not be revealed unless that poll is chosen.

Here is the site to vote on your favorite poll to be added to the polls page. Please keep in mind that you DO NOT need to register for the site to vote, but you can if you want.

Go vote! You have the power!

Ask The Swag Gal (July 17, 2009)

Another Friday is here and that means another installment of Ask The Swag Gal! I know you're as excited about that as I am :)

Today's question comes from Jeremy S. from Cedar Falls, IA. He asked:

How would you react if all the technology in the world shut off? All the cars, engines, phones, computers, electricity, guns, everything shut down at once. We'd be back in the Medieval Ages...what would you do?

I think this is one of the most original questions I have come across thus far! And while the thought of it is crazy and a bit scary, I think it would be very refreshing. To have none of what we heavily depend on every single day would be such a great change. It's hard to say what anyone would do until you're thrown into the situation. But with the help of my good old imagination, here's The Swag Gal's vision of a world with no technology...

If there were no cars...
  • I would gun it down the freeway in a make-shift wooden go-cart, without a care in the world about someone hitting or side-swiping me. (This road would preferably have a slight downward slope for purposes of gaining momentum)
  • I would bike all around town, weaving through the streets.
If there were no cell phones or computers...
  • This would be my excuse to not have to talk to anybody unless I voluntarily sought them out. I would take advantage of having a day entirely to myself. Just knowing cell phones are not even an option would be the ultimate relaxation... am I right?! Of course, if I did need to talk to somebody I'm not sure what I would do. Maybe use carrier pigeons?
If there was no electricity...
  • CANDLES! I tend to pray for the electricity to go out as it is, or any excuse to light hundreds of candles around my house. As for night time and outdoors, I'd probably just avoid going out all together.
Ok ok... I know what you're thinking. Living without all this technology seems way easier said than done. And while I do agree, I think I'd just try to take the opportunity to relax and appreciate what I have. Then again I would be willing to bet I could last no more than 3 days living this way...TOPS!

...I guess we could always just ask the Amish how they do it.

What about all of you? I'd love to hear what you all would do if one day you woke up and all technology was gone.

Keep sending those questions to theswaggal@swagbucks.com and I'll be seeing you next week!

It's Mega Swag Bucks Day!

As if Fridays weren't great enough, we here at Swagbucks like to sweeten the Friday pot even more by giving away up to 10,000 Swag Bucks in Mega Bills EVERY FRIDAY! Now, this doesn't guarantee that you'll land a 20 spot or even a 3 spot, BUT what it does mean is that your CHANCES of landing anywhere 3 to 500 Swag Bucks in one winning search are increased drastically!

As always we include Twitter in the Mega Swag Bucks fun. If you happen to land a Mega Swag Bill, take a screen shot of it and use Twitpic or YFrog or whatever picture hosting service you use with Twitter and post a tweet with your Mega Swag Buck win along with the @Swagbucks mention & the #MSBD tag (that stands for Mega Swag Bucks Day) if TSG sees your tweet, I'll retweet it and all of Swag Nation can bask in the glory of your Swag!

So get out there and grab 'em up!

Twitter Trivia Today!

We'll be playing Twitter Trivia again today on our Twitter page. If you haven't played before, it's a lot of fun and even if you don't win, you'll learn a lot (so long as I remember to tell you guys the correct answers :P).

We'll be starting trivia at 3:00PM PDT so be sure to get there a bit early and have your Swagbucks search engine open so you can beat the competition!

Almost all questions are multiple parts, if you don't answer ALL parts of the question your answer will not be counted even if you get the part you submitted right.

If you win a question, TSG will Direct Message you so check your inbox after TSG has said that the winners have been DM'd because it could be you!

That's about it, brush up on your music, TV, cinema, geography, history and who knows what else...

TSG's T-Shirt Contest!

One day, when the official history of Swag Bucks is committed to film, tv, and graphic novel, the pundits and commentators will talk about all the great contests we've ran. From the Swag Guy's Dance Contest, to the Swag Bucks Superstar Contest, we've always been looking for ways to reward users for showcasing their skills, creativity and talent.

Which is why we're so excited to introduce you to our new T-Shirt contest. Here's the idea: take a picture of yourself either in a crowded hot spot or at a famous landmark wearing your Swagbucks T-Shirt. For every qualified submission we'll give you 5 Swag Bucks, and the 2 people who send in the "best" photos will receive 250 Swag Bucks each!

What kinds of places can you visit with your Swagbucks.com T-Shirt?

Why are we doing this contest? Because in our experience, wearing your Swagbucks T-Shirt is a great way to start conversations with friends, colleagues, and perfect strangers about Swagbucks.com. And now with our new Swag Name referral system, it's never been easier to bring folks to your referral link. The more people you talk to, the more referrals you're likely to collect!

Learn more here.

Be sure to keep up with all the great submissions from Swaggernauts like you by checking our Flickr page regularly. Be creative. Be rewarded. Good luck!

:)

UPDATE: This code is EXPIRED

This is Football New York Giants Banner Winner!

This is one of our coolest prizes for sure. That said, Swaggernaut Charles F. of Long Island, NY of is now the proud owner of this rare vinyl banner that hung in the streets of NYC after the Giants Super Bowl Victory. If you didn't win this time fear not - snag entries now for the next banner contest which ends on August 15th! This is available at MyGiantsSearch.com - the official search&win of the NY Giants!

Ask The Swag Gal (July 15, 2009)

Howdy Swag Nation,

Where to begin? First off let me just say that I'm honored that so many of you agree with my advice! As I'm sure you'll recall, last week I responded to a Swaggernaut who wanted to know how to find out if a guy is interested in you. TSG clearly didn't agree with everything I said, and so he put out a poll asking all of you to rate my advice. And I'm happy to report that most of you, agree with yours truly! Of course, if any of you fellas out there happen to take my advice, please let us know how everything turned out ;)

Also, earlier this week we asked all of you to send your best ideas to me and boy, did you ever! I must say, this was the toughest choice to date! But without further ado, today's winners are:

Jimi - inquired about my opinion of older women who go out with younger men.
Amp7782 - wanted to know what kinds of products are ok to buy "used" versus "new"
Swimmer14 - asked about the implications of dating an old friend

You've each been awarded 5 Swag Bucks, and I'll be holding onto your questions for use in the future!

Today I'll be answering the following question from Ian L., of Williamsport, PA. He asked:

Any advice or ideas on ways to save money on a family vacation in this economy (besides using Swag Bucks, of course)?

Ian - I'm almost certain we've all have had this on our minds at one point or another in the past several months. We all want to escape our lives sometimes and get out of town and relax! It's a tough time for everybody, as we are all looking for alternatives while at the same time trying to maintain the normalcy in our lives.

The way I see it, you have two options. You can either put time, effort and money into planning a vacation OR you can plan a stay-cation. Since some of you may not be familiar with this term, allow me to elaborate.

A "stay-cation" is an alternative to going away or out of town for vacation. A stay-cation allows you to stay at home (wherever home is) and plan day trips and adventures right around where you live. This eliminates the high price of travel and accommodations that a normal trip would cost you.

This type of low-budget vacation allows you to make use of what you already have. Here are just a few quick examples:

-If you have a pool, have a family fun day in the sun and relax and swim.
-Visit some local places around town: museums, parks, beaches, flea & farmers markets.
-Camp out in the backyard.
-Treat yourself to a spa day...or two!

There are so many ways to make a successful stay-cation, all it takes is a little brain power. Of course we can all agree that a "vacation" sounds much more glamorous and luxurious (plus you get all those little hotel soaps and shampoos). But to that I would remind you of the old phrase, "There's no place like home!"

Happy planning!

Keep submitting those questions to me @ asktheswaggal@swagbucks.com and I'll be back on Friday!

-TSGal

Did You Know...?

Everytime Swagbucks updates its blog, you can be alerted! This is aside from those fancy RSS feeds you can get in the upper right hand corner of this blog. On the right rail of this blog at the almost very bottom, just above the members you can subscribe with your email address to get updates sent to your email every time we update the blog.

This will help you keep up with all the goings-on at Swagbucks, from new partners to Swagstakes to winners and yes....Swag Codes. What if you have email updates from our blog already? Then you'll be getting this update sent to your email about getting updates sent to your email...whoa. It's like taking a picture of a person taking a picture of a mirror...or something.

Anyway, go ahead and subscribe via email and you can get email alerts, which is especially helpful if your cell phones get email, like your fancy Blackberries or your hoity-toity iPhones, so you won't even need to be around a computer to know that there's a code on the blog...or that you won a recent Swagstakes!

Have you done it yet? I'll wait...

By now even the most casual swaggernaut knows that we are all about going green. For this reason we are super pleased to introduce to you some AWESOME new EcoFriendly products available in the Swag Store courtesy of EcoUsable. To that end they create super high quality, stainless steel water bottles that are not only fashionable, but also help eliminate wasting plastic bottles! We've got 8 different designs available for your snagging pleasure. After you grab a bottle be sure to visit EcoUsable's official website and learn more about what they are doing. You will be impressed (and may feel compelled to purchase a bottle or two) :)

Have You Entered These Swagstakes?

What can I say? We just love givin' stuff away for free. To that end, we have an exciting next couple of days here at Swagbucks. For instance, tomorrow our New York Giants Vinyl Banner Swagstakes is ending. If you're a fan of THE New York football Giants, this is an awesome prize to snag. This is a rare banner hung in the streets of New York after the Giants won their Super Bowl title in the 2007-08 season. This Swagstakes ends TOMORROW. So be sure to throw in your entries, just 1 Swag Buck each per entry!

After that, we have our bi-monthly 500 Swag Bucks Giveaway Swagstakes. Thursday, July 16th, we will be announcing the next winner of 500 Swag Bucks. This is a sweet prize and its just 3 Swag Bucks per entry. See the blog Thursday for the winner of this prize.

Another one of the Greg Bennett guitars is also ending soon. Sunday, July 19th, we will be giving away this beautiful acoustic/electric guitar hand-crafted at Greg Bennett guitars.
This is just 1 Swag Buck to enter so if you love beautiful, rich-sounding acoustic guitars that also have the ability to rock like an electric, no reason not to enter this Swagstakes.

Last but certainly not least, our good friends at VPGames have hooked you guys up with the chance to win an XBox 360 Arcade for FREE! Well, 2 Swag Bucks per entry free, but free just the same.
We will be announcing the winner of this Swagstakes this Monday, July 20th. Get your entries in and you could be the proud new owner of an XBox 360 Arcade!

After the Xbox 360 Swagstakes ends, we'll be giving away ANOTHER console. The difference this time is that you guys out there in Swag Nation get to choose what it is. You may have seen this poll on the polls page, cast your vote here as to which video game system you want to vie for more. The winning console will be next week's Swagstakes so make your vote count!

Twitter Tuesday Phrase That Pays - 7/14

Hey Swaggernauts! Tuesday is the day we give all of you out there a chance to earn 50 Swag Bucks by tweeting the Twitter Tuesday Phrase That Pays. Last week we switched it up a bit by using "Swag" in celebrity names. This week, we'll be doing a more definite Phrase That Pays but we'll be sure to switch it up again in the future since it seemed like you guys had a lot of fun with it.

That said, the TTPTP today is also kind of fun. The phrase today is Swagstar. You can take this to mean a variation on the word All-Star since the Major League Baseball All-Star game is tonight or you can put your own definition to it. As always, its up to you.

If you're new to Twitter Tuesday, here's what to do.

First, make sure you have a Twitter account and that you're following @Swagbucks.

Then enter your tweet in the box on Twitter that says "What are you doing?". Make sure to include "@Swagbucks" and the Phrase that Pays somewhere in your tweet. Tweets without either of these will not be considered.

Lastly, make sure you use the tweet in a sentence. Tweets that say "@Swagbucks Swagstar" are not likely to win.

So there you go, get out there and tweet and tomorrow you might be sitting on 50 more Swag Bucks!

TSG

Interesting Idea...

It seems like we get emails at least once a week that include an offering of Swagbucks users old toys, video games, posters, clothes, etc. to be traded in for Swag Bucks. Theoretically, these items would then be put into the Swag Store. We don't have this kind of arrangement, but what if we did?

TSG is curious to know what kind of stuff you'd want to trade in for Swag Bucks. Go ahead and leave a comment with whatever random knick-knacks & trinkets you have sitting in your home that you really don't need at all that you'd love to see Swag Bucks for.

This doesn't mean we're implementing a system like this, just for fun. For now...

We Dare You To Ask The Swag Gal

I'm sure you don't need me to remind you that Wednesday's are The Swag Gal's time to shine around here (Fridays too as of late). While I'm sure that she'll be talking about the recent blog poll that asked if you agreed with her advice, ultimately TSGal depends on quality submissions from all you Swaggernauts out there to keep things spicy.

And so this week only, we're going to be hooking up 5 people with 5 bonus Swag Bucks for sending interesting questions to The Swag Gal. I know what you're thinking: 'What makes a question be interesting? Isn't that highly subjective?'

Totally! But we're doing it anyway. If you have a real question for TSGal (customer service emails and gibberish don't count) from finances and fashion, to dining and dating, go ahead and shoot her an email at theswaggal@swagbucks.com. In addition to quality advice, you might just snag yourself 5 bonus Swag Bucks!

Winners will be announced in The Swag Gal's post this Wednesday. Stay tuned, and good luck!

Swag Guy here, first let me say... how great is The Swag Gal?!

Watching her help so many Swaggernauts young and old with a wisdom beyond her years gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. But, that's not what this post is about...

In TSGal's last blog post, someone asked her how they'll know if a guy is into her. I thought she gave a more or less accurate response; guys can be very different and thus actions can be hard to decipher.

However, what she failed to mention is not only are guys different, but guys are different at different AGES. For example, see the following breakdown for the most likely action (in general) that will indicate a fancy for the female in question:

Age 3-9ish - Kick, punch, spit, theft of toys, etc. The kid is all about you.
Age 10-13- Effort to make completely mundane conversation and/or excel at sports or hurting themselves. Big case of puppy love.
Age 14-17 - WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE
Age 18-early 20's Slight regression to the first stage, lots of teasing and sometimes more extreme mean behavior so when the romance comes out it looks all the more impressive
mid 20's/30's on - Honest, direct, no funny business...for the most part

That's a GENERAL breakdown.

But I'm interested to see a gender by gender breakdown of how accurate you think The Swag Gal's advice is, particularly the part about guys being honest and just telling women that they like them.

So here it is: if you're a guy, let us know in the following poll your thoughts. Women, PLEASE DON'T VOTE ON THIS POLL. There is a separate poll for the ladies right below.

Women, please share your opinion on the same question here:

I can't wait to see the results of this one! Btw that reminds me, tomorrow is new poll's day on Swagbucks.com. Be sure to send your submissions to pollideas@swagbucks.com.

If you were around yesterday or subscribe to our YouTube channel, you know that we not only recapped the past week in Swagbucks in a new video but also gave out a Swag Code. This is as good a reason as any to subscribe to our YouTube channel, being rewarded is never bad.

If you missed the video here it is. Keep in mind, we won't always give out codes at the same place in a video or even give out a code in every video but just so you have an idea of what you missed and some quality information to boot, here you are...

So get over to the YouTube channel and subscribe because we'll be doing weekly updates from here on out and maybe even additional videos here and there for new Swagstakes and contests :)

Saturday Video of the Week!

I stumbled upon this video about maybe the coolest guy(s) in the world. One could only hope to go through their day with such ease & grace.

DISCLAIMER: TSG & Swagbucks does not condone smoking, much less opium smoking but if you can do cool things with cigarettes that doesn't involve smoking them, do it to the hills!

Hmm, the possibilities...

Perhaps you're new to Swagbucks and aren't sure or maybe even fully convinced of its capabilities. Maybe you also can't devote a lot of time to do a website and you just have time to search. Typically, you'll earn 2 Swag Bucks a day through normal searching, on average. Some days you'll win more, some less...it averages out to about 2 per day.

Now let's say you've been using Swagbucks for 2 months, just searching. No contests or codes or anything, just searches. If you've been consistent, you should have about 120 Swag Bucks. Well, what can you get for 120 Swag Bucks? Well here are a few things....

For a bit over 120 Swag Bucks, 125 Swag Bucks to be exact, you can get this rare D'Angelo 16 x 16 lithograph. Not too shabby...
How about the book, Hannibal? If you saw or read Silence of the Lambs or saw Hannibal, you know why this is a steal. In fact, most of the books in the Swag Store are about 120 Swag Bucks. If you read books intermittently, 2 months is about the perfect turn-around time for a new book, just ask The Swag Gal.

If you're not into the books but like your video games, here's a PS3 game for 120 Swag Bucks. It's a year old but still an awesome game. I say that with some bias as TSG loves sports video games, especially football games.
So there you have it, 2 months, sweet free prizes. Do some browsing of your own around The Swag Store and see what you can get in 2 months time.

Swagbucks Feature Partner: Music for Relief

You may have heard us mention our partners, Music for Relief in various blog posts & Swagstakes. If you're not familiar with the organization or their cause, MFR was started by the members of Linkin Park, including Swagbucks partner, Chester Bennington. Their mission is to bring aid & relief to victims of natural disasters to give them shelter, food & help them get back on their feet again. Needless to say, a very noble cause from a band that has a busy schedule, but still makes the time.

Along with Team Swagbucks, Music for Relief will be on The Warped Tour all summer long. If you're going to a Warped Tour in your area this summer, make sure to stop by their tent regardless of what bands you're there to see or what bands you're into. Make a donation and we'll be right there with them giving away free MP3s from Warped Tour artists.

You can help out by browsing & redeeming prizes from their Search&Win site. See the prizes here.

Also, make sure to stop by their website to see what they're all about or donate there if you won't be at Warped Tour this summer. You can also add them on MySpace & join their mailing list.

Music is great. Music for a good cause is greater.

It's Mmmmega Swag Bucks Day!!!

Fridays mean Mega Swag Bucks Day so hopefully you guys will hit some Mega Bills today. We give away up to 10,000 Swag Bucks in Mega Bills every Friday so you might hit that lucky 3, 5, 20 or even 100!

We also like to include our little buddy, Twitter in the mix. If you hit a Mega Swag Buck win, take a screen shot and post it to Twitter with both the @Swagbucks mention and an #MSBD tag. If TSG spots the post he'll retweet it for all of Swag Nation to see!

Ask The Swag Gal (July 10, 2009)

And we meet again. Thanks to everybody who responded to my last post with their favorite reality tv shows. It seems like there are a lot of Bravo fans out there! I wish we could all get together and watch Real Housewives Of New Jersey together, but I don't think that's a very practical idea.

Also, I just tried using the Comparison Shopping tool for the first time and all I can say is wow! Ladies- did you know they've got some of the top of the line cosmetic brands on there?! Check it out! Oh and about TSG's Twilight poll from earlier this week, let me just say, don't knock it til you read it! (ahem ahem... BOYS!!)

Speaking of boys... let's get to our question of the day.

Our question comes from Sara L. from Amarillo, TX. She asked:

How can you tell if if a guy likes you?

Let me tell ya Sara, boys can be tricky. All guys are different and show their feelings in different ways. Here are a few hints he's probably into you:

I hope some of these tell-tale signs help you decipher this guy! Either way... don't wait around too long. Plenty of other fish in the sea :)

I look forward to reading your questions for next week! Keep sending them to asktheswaggal@swagbucks.com.

Ciao!

Autographed Swag from SideCho Records!

Earlier today we were lucky enough to connect with our old friends at SideCho Records. If you are not familiar with SideCho, you are not familiar with some great indie music history. Since the labels inception they've been the starting place for many great young indie, punk and rock bands including Stars of Track & Field, Grammy nominated electro-rock duo Shiny Toy Guns and the great Neva Dinova.

To celebrate the label and their great artists, we've added a whole new SideCho Records sub-category into the 'Music & Band" section of the Swag Store. For as low as 35 Swag Bucks you can snag yourself some beautiful, hand signed posters from many of the acts on the label's roster. These posters are true collectibles and are perfect for framing. Snag a couple items quick because at these prices, these items won't stick around long! Check it all out right here

Twitter Trivia Today!

TSG will be conducting another rousing round of trivia on Twitter today. Make sure to be around when the game starts at 3PM PDT. Topics can cover anything from music, TV, cinema, history, literature, geography and more.

Here's a few helpful tips before you get started to ensure your questions will count and you can get them quickly:

1) First and foremost, make sure you reply to the question. This will automatically start your tweet with @Swagbucks. Only tweets that start with @Swagbucks will be looked at. Do NOT Direct Message Swagbucks. The only time you should Direct Message Swagbucks during trivia is if TSG has messaged you telling you that you've won. Do not answer questions to our Twitter inbox.

2) Make sure you answer the ENTIRE question. I'll use an example from last week's trivia. I asked this:
"This Day in History 1839, a slave ship off the Cuban coast is overthrown led by this man AND name the ship/film based on it & its director."
You have no idea how many tweets I got that said "@Swagbucks Steven Spielberg" or "@Swagbucks Amistad", even "@Swagbucks Amistad Spielberg" is wrong! The correct answer is "@Swagbucks Joseph Cinque, Amistad, Stephen Spielberg". It doesn't matter what order you put them in but you must spell correctly and include every part of the answer to have it count. Which leads me to...

3) Every part of the answer MUST BE CORRECT. If we're still using that last example, you don't credit for "@Swagbucks Joseph Cinque Amistad Ron Howard". You just don't. Make sure it's all right.

4) Have your Swagbucks search engine up and ready to use. The reason why should be obvious.

5) Answer the question being asked and do it within the times laid out. You have no idea how many people will be answering the first question as TSG is looking for the winner of the third question. At the end of every question I announce that the winners have been found, this is your cue to stop answering that question. If you've won, you'll be Direct Messaged.

That's pretty much it! It's a lot of fun so come out and play and win Swag Bucks.

There are 10 players that are on the bump right now of being selected as the final player to their respective league's roster. In my opinion, the American League is a toss-up between Adam Lind and Ian Kinsler. Kinsler's average is lackluster but he does have 20 HRs. As for the National League, the choice should be clear; Matt Kemp, Matt Kemp, Matt Kemp. He's a DODGER!

If you don't care about baseball, vote for Matt Kemp because it will make TSG happy.

Twilight: How Do You REALLY Feel?

TSG came across an interesting article about the phenomenon that is the Twilight series. In the article, the author (who is male) unabashedly professes his love for Twilight and implores other males to start being honest with themselves and either admit its good or come up with a better reason than budding machismo to say that its not good.

I thought I'd get your unbiased take on it. Remember polls are anonymous and no one will EVER KNOW HOW YOU VOTED. So let's make this interesting and cast your votes 100% honestly.

There, doesn't that feel good? No matter how you voted ;-)

Facebook Fan Poll: Good Call!

Two weeks ago, I polled Swag Nation on how many Facebook fans we'd have by this day. Low and behold, you guys nailed it. Were some of the options purposely overambitious? Sure. But I like to be rewarding ;-)

Here are the official results of the poll:
I also mentioned that we'd do a minimum of 3 Swag Codes if the correct answer ended up being the leading answer. Well, that's exactly the case and we've already had one Swag Code today in our Facebook Discussion. If you missed it, all I can say is...be more vigilant on your Swidget.

But, I'll also say this; you may have heard we have an awesome new partner, Incubus. You may find a rewarding surprise in one of the prizes on the Incubus site. If you do, enter it at any Search&Win site, but I'd strongly recommend entering on the Incubus site itself and throwing that Swag Buck into the Incubus Concert Tickets Swagstakes. If you've seen Incubus live, you know why I'd suggest this. This code will expire at 3:30PM PDT AND it may look a bit different...go get 'em!

Oh, and good guessing!
