Greetings Swag Nation! It is time for you all to get on your virtual couch for some Swag Gal therapy. Today’s question comes to us from a Swagster named Strids:

Dear Swag Gal,
I hate to say it, but my husband and I are stuck in a Winter Blues rut! The last few weeks we have been staying in a lot because we either can’t think of anything to do or just don’t feel like going out of the house. With spring coming up I really want to get out of this rut. Another issue is that I feel guilty spending too much money going out when there has been a lot spent on bills and stuff for the house lately. Any ideas on things we can do for fun that don’t cost too much and will get us energized? Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Dear Strids,

I hear you girl. I am so over the winter and ready for spring! Whenever I get in a winter rut, I throw a little luau pot-luck party. There is nothing like drinking pina coladas and eating food brought by other people to get you out of a funk!

To start, send out an evite to 20 of your nearest and dearest. Be sure to include a list of what everyone should bring. The nice thing about a pot-luck party is you really cut down on the cost of food and drink because everyone contributes to the shindig.

Then all you have to do is make sure you clean up the house before hand and get some Beach Boys cds. I also like to buy some Hawaiian Tropic suntan lotion and make everyone who walks through the door wear some because it smells like summer. Or, if that is too weird, just buy some coconut scented candles!

Personally, throwing a party always gets me energized because it gives me an excuse to do all the chores I normally put off doing. I also love prepping for a party- deciding what to wear, figuring out the tunes I am going to play, and anticipating the fun all my friends will have.
