You might not know it, but today is an important day in Rock n’ Roll history – on July 19th, 1954 the legendary Sun Records label took a chance on a boy from Tupleo, Mississippi who would go on to change popular music forever. The boy was Elvis Aron Presley, and the 45 was That’s Alright Mama/Blue Moon of Kentucky.
Here’s a rare recording from October of 1954, in which Elvis sings BOTH sides of that historic single on a popular radio (and later television) program of that time, The Louisiana Hayride. Long live The King!
