This week’s Ask The Swag Gal is appropriately holiday oriented. I was actually asked this question four times by four separate Swaggernauts, so I’m sure many of you are wondering the same thing. The concern is how to provide your children with a satisfying and exciting Christmas while staying within your budget. We all know that the holiday season can certainly take a toll on your bank account, so this year, let’s make everyone happy!
First and foremost, do not be afraid of resorting to classics. Remember the toys you used to play with as a kid? Play-Doh? Legos? Hot Wheels? Barbies? These items will never go out of style and they are all affordable. These gifts fit into a pretty large age range, and could even make great stocking stuffers!
Although we’re on the brink of winter, spring is just around the corner. How about gifts that will encourage outdoor play? Scooters and roller blades are great, because they get your kids out of the house and away from video games, any they’re also much cheaper than buying a bicycle. Don’t forget helmets and safety pads!
Movie tickets are always a great gift, because they incorporate quality family time. After a nice Christmas dinner, take the kids to see Tangled or Megamind, and enjoy a night out with the family.
Puzzles act as very practical gifts, as they are time consuming and challenging. Get your 3-year-old a 10-piece puzzle set and help him/her learn shapes and motor skills. Or pick up a 1000-piece puzzle and work together as a family to put it together.
Art supplies are cheap and go a long way. Grab a $5 paint set and keep your kids occupied for hours! How about all of those crayons you have lying around? You know, the ones that are too small to use anymore? Take a bunch and melt them together. Use the melted wax to mold a new, fun-shaped, multi-colored crayon that is now easy to use. This alone is even a fun activity for kids!

Until next time,
