Team Swagbucks Christmas Memories…

I love this time of year. I love the chill in the air, the bustle of the crowds and festive decorations. Since moving to Southern California from Ohio I’ve especially missed the magical glow of Christmas lights buried in a light dusting of snow. We don’t get many White Christmases around these parts. Luckily I will be “home for the holidays” and it looks almost certain to be a snowy event.

Another magical, even mythical, tradition from my youth would take place every Christmas Eve. Each year my brothers and I would spend the day at my Aunt Fran’s house celebrating with our cousins and extended family as both my parents worked retail and wouldn’t arrive until late in the evening. Once the evening came to a close my family would pile into the green station wagon with wood “paneling” on the side and set off to tour the neighborhood taking in the various light displays. Like clockwork, each year my mom would protest that she had a killer headache and could we just drop her off at the house and then continue the tour. After everyone had their fill of lights we would head home, only to be met by my mother at the door exclaiming, “You will never believe it but you JUST missed Santa” and we would run into the house to find the tree surrounded by colorful boxes and bows. Every year, we would come so close to seeing Santa! We would miss him by mere seconds! What bad luck we had.

But I have a good feeling that this is the year…

Wishing you a bright holiday and may you catch a glimpse of Santa this season.
