I fully believe that the way you start your morning could dictate how the rest of your day will play out.  The majority of our mornings are spent doing routine, mundane activities that are typically on auto-pilot.  However, if you alter one of your morning activities, you can set yourself up for a refreshing, new day.  I found a great article in the personal development blog of that features 33 different ways to start your day.  I thought I would take a moment to highlight a few that caught my interest.

Write in your journal

-Journaling helps to empty your mind and makes you feel energized so you can start your day off on the right foot.

Be grateful for something for 5 minutes

-Whether it’s your family, your wealth, or your health, point your mind in that direction and stay there.  “There’s nobody between you and that thing, there’s nobody watching or listening.  You’re free to feel grateful and happy.  And then start your day as usual.”

Help Somebody

-It does not have to be huge or visible, but a simple effort like moving something out of somebody’s way will not only help your recipient, it will help you to feel good about yourself.  It’s great to start your day with a good feeling and a high self esteem.

Meditate for 5 Minutes

-Empty your mind, focus on your breathing, and relax.  A quick meditation session will help you relax and rejuvenate, and prepare

Write a Thank You Note

-You don’t have to send it, just write it.  “Bring to the light people or events you are thankful for. If you say “thank you” to something first thing in the morning, you’re inviting those specific type of events into your life.”

Watch the Sunrise

-If you’re up early enough, watching the sunrise is a powerful experience that will literally and figuratively brighten your day.
