Today’s user-submitted book review is from briidope and she recommends Charotte Figg Takes Over Paradise by Joyce Magnin.  briidope will get 250 Swag Bucks for submitting her review.  You can submit  a 3-5 paragraph review of your favorite book to bookclub@swagbucks.com and maybe you’ll see your name in the spotlight, too!

This book is about a woman whose husband dies and then she decided to keep the stray dog found in her house and move to a Trailer Park. She got fooled by the manager and thought she was buying a nice pink deluxe trailer, when really she got a dusty old trailer that needed alot of work. Her mother Lillian never approved of her marriage with her husband Henry. Later in this book, readers find out that Henry was not only just really mean, we also find out that he beat Charlotte.
After some help from the local trailer park residents, Charlotte’s trailer is at its best. She soon becomes friends with Asa, a one armed man, and Rose, a burn victim. The bond that they share throughout this book is incredible. After meeting all the residents, Charlotte comes up with the idea to create a softball team, something that she once played and always loved. She has a bit of trouble finding a playing field and sponsor, but sooner or later she gets them both. At first, the husbands of the ladies’ playing did not want their women playing softball, but cooking and cleaning. Charlotte soon solves that problem and the husbands were coming out to every game. Ginger, a 4 foot something midget, Asa, and Rose all see Charlotte as the answer to their prayers. They have been waiting for someone like Charlotte to come along.
I love this book because it really shows the determination that a person can have. Even though Charlotte was stuck in a rut most times, with the guidance of her newfound friends, she always knows how to get out of that rut. This is a very heartfelt book that I grabbed my attention quick and kept me interested. It was free on Amazon and downloaded right to my device. Charlotte ended up living in Paradise Trailer park with her dog Lucky for over a year. This book was very enjoyable and I very do think it is worth a read. You will become emotionally interested and really get into this book. Joyce Magnin did a good job with this book, and even comes with questions at the end to recap the story a little.
