Happy Flag Day
On June 14th, 1777, the flag was adopted by the United States of America. Today marks the 235th anniversary of this momentous occasion in our country’s history. The adoption of the flag was an outcome of the resolution of the Second Continental Congress. Not only are we celebrating the adoption of the flag, but we are also honoring the birth of the US Army. “Congress adopted “the American continental army” after reaching a consensus position in the Committee of the Whole on June 14, 1775″ (U.S. ARMY CENTER OF MILITARY HISTORY). In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issues a proclamation that officially established June 14th as Flag Day. In August of 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.
Wherever you are today, whatever you’re doing, take a moment to think about the beauty of our country and the beauty of our flag.
Happy Flag Day!
