Happy Wednesday, Swag Nation!

I hope you enjoyed the Weekend Game Challenge on Tower Builder. I seriously have no idea how some of you managed to get the scores you did. I’m lookin at you,music1654.  How on earth did you do that? Very impressive, Swag Nation…  Very impressive.

Today’s Game Challenge for 100 Swag Bucks is very much a special one. For months now, several of you have been asking for a true tower defense game (Run a Swag Search!). It never left my mind, but it was a challenge to find one that I thought was good enough to be the first tower defense game for the Swagbucks community. I really hope you all enjoy it.

Presenting… Monsters TD 2!

In Monsters TD 2, the monsters are invading and it your job to prevent them from getting through the portal! Why? I’m not sure, but I’m pretty certain the portal contains some pretty awesome stuff and I don’t know about you, but I’m not about to let a bunch of aggressive monsters touch my awesome portal stuff.

If you’ve never played a tower defense game, it’s all about setting up towers strategically to defend against the incoming hordes. You have several different kinds of towers to choose from. Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. As an example, the eye tower is a great weapon against monsters because it stuns them and causes great damage, but it takes a long time between shots. An inferno tower causes continuous damage, but only at a short range.

Just like your towers, the incoming monsters have their own unique traits. Some are faster than others; some can take more damage; some even turn invisible for brief periods. If it sounds like a lot to learn, one of the reasons I like this game so much is because it does a good job of explaining each element as you play and at any time, you can pause and go to the in-game guide.

Towers cost money and with each monster you prevent from entering the portal, you earn more. You can also earn money by initiating the next monster attack before your allotted setup time is over between waves. For each level you complete, you can earn a ranging number of crystals you can spend between levels to buy upgrades and advantages for your towers or skills. How well you do on each level determines the number of crystals you earn for completing them.

So what’s today’s challenge? Complete at least the first two levels of Monsters TD 2 and post a link to a screenshot of your level select screen in the comments along with either how you feel about tower defense games, what you think of Monsters TD 2, or a tip on how to play. For each of these correctly filled out posts you make, you will have one entry in a raffle to win 100 Swag Bucks. You may enter as many times as you like with new screenshots showing different crystals and level unlocks. You may wish to protect your screenshots by adding your Swag Name to it in a paint program. If you need an image hosting service, I recommend tinypic.com because it’s quick and easy. Three winners will be selected at random from all of today’s entries and announced in this blog post and on Twitter on Thursday.

You can also participate via Twitter by tweeting your screenshot @Swagbucks, along with your Swag Name and the hashtag #sbgames. You may place each entry both on Twitter and in the comments, but if you win from an entry placed on Twitter, you will win an additional 100 Swag Bucks.

Your feedback is very important to us. That’s why I’m requiring it for this game challenge. Today’s game was brought about by requests and suggestions from Swaggernauts, if you have a type of game in mind you’d like to see offered on Swagbucks or a suggestion for the Weekend Game Challenge, you’re always welcome to let us know in the comments.

Good luck! Have fun! Protect the portal!

Update: This week’s winners were ReesesRocks, atonycruz, and sumbulina – Congratulations!
