Saturday Do-It-Yourself – Chandelier
Remember the saying, “Everything old is new again?” Today’s Saturday Do-It-Yourself fits that saying perfecting with this beautiful upcycling of an old light fixture. If the term “upcycling” is unfamiliar it means simply to re-use and re-purpose old stuff into something new and useful. (If you want to get really meta the term “upcycle” is basically the re-purposing of the word old word “recycle” but now I’ve spun off into a land of lexicon that does nothing to tell us about this stunning chandelier).
Today’s Saturday Swaggernaut Do-It-Yourself comes from Jeanetta72 of TX who writes:
I was wanting to change out my light fixture about a year ago so I set out to shopping, and yes those shiny chandeliers caught my eye, but the $$$tag also caught my eye. Off to the internet I went to see if I could find a diy project, and I did find quite a few…but my sister was replacing a fixture and I snagged up the old one (see before pic)
After a coat of spray paint, a trip to hobby lobby for jewelry fasteners, and about $50 in acrylic crystal strands I set to creating. I would say about two evenings of fastening while watching tv and I have a fixture that I love:
And in all its glory:
Wow, Jeanetta72 , that is just stunning! What an amazing inspiration! I also want to compliment Jeanetta72 on her craftiness as a new Swaggeranut. A quick peek at her history to award her 500 Swag Bucks for sending in this suggestion tells me that she is also active (and successful) with taking part in TTPTP, #MSBD and the Wednesday Game Challenge! Not only does Jeanetta72 know how to stretch a dollar but she knows how to maximize her Swag Bucks earning potential with all the fun bonus opportunities!
If you have a DIY project or fabulous recipe to share – and want your chance at 500 Swag Bucks – just do what Jeanetta72 did and send your submission to firstname.lastname@example.org. Include a picture or two and it increases your chance of being featured in an upcoming Saturday blog post.
