Swagbucks Book Club – Going Behind The Scenes

Hello Swagbucks Book Club!

The vote-winning March reading selection for the Swagbucks Book Club is Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl.  Amazon has the Kindle Edition for less than $5.00, as does Barnes & Noble for the NOOK edition. The paperback is not much more than that and of course your local librarian would love to see your smiling face where you can check it out for free.  Mark your calendars for our discussion of this important title on March 28th at 10am PT here in the blog.

Here are some of the interesting sites I found when researching the history surrounding this month’s selection:

The Anne Frank Museum located in Amsterdam offers an interactive timeline of events with chilling photos.

The United States Holocaust Museum has an online exhibit entitled: Anne Frank the Writer: An Unfinished Story featuring her original manuscripts and much more.

Recently there have been news reports about vandalism to this title in libraries throughout Japan.  This got me thinking about the practice of banning books which brings us to…

This week’s discussion topic: Should books ever be banned?  Why or why not?

Leave your thoughts in the comments below and on Monday I will award 3 people for their contributions.
