Welcome Swagbucks Book Club Members!  Today is a busy day! We’ve got:

  • the announcement of the June reading selection
  • a new SB earning opportunity
  • a word of tribute to an inspiration
  • and discussion of Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler.

So let’s get this show on the road!

Our June reading selection will be The Good House by Ann Leary. “Superstition, drama and intrigue unspool at a perfect pace in Ann Leary’s irresistible novel, The Good House, a tale steeped in New England character and small-town social tumult” – Redbook.  You can find out more about this title on our Read page AND earn Swag Bucks!  (currently SBs are awarded for signing up for the author newsletter but this page also includes an excerpt of the title.   We will meet to discuss this title on Friday, June 27th

Check the Read page on Sunday, June 1 for 5 additional new titles AND earning opportunities.

The world lost a remarkable voice on Wednesday with the passing of poet Maya Angelou.  She leaves us with a legacy of work from which to draw inspiration and guidance.  My first exposure to her work was through a college roommate in the late ’80s.  Personally, I find her work even more engrossing when read by the author.  Her turn of a phrase has an intoxicating rhythmic quality that boosts my morale on even the lowest days.  She will be missed but her gifts to the world are eternal.

If you want to share your thoughts on Maya Angelou’s legacy feel free to do so in the comments.  We will also be discussing our May reading selection:

Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler

“Two unlikely friends. One journey that will change their lives forever.”

Joining the discussion is simple. I will post questions/discussion topics in the comments below.  Add your two cents in the thread or post your own questions for others.  The discussion continues throughout the weekend and on Monday, June 2nd I will randomly choose 10 people to award with 25 Swag Bucks!  Please let your voice be heard!
