Meet Boomer: ASPCA Rescue

Posted by on Thu, July 28th, 2011 at 7:00 am

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Eron from Team Swagbucks here, and I’d love to introduce all you great folks of Swag Nation to my best four-legged pal, Boomer.

Boomer is a lovable, huggable Dogo Argentino, and at 75 lbs.may be the world’s biggest lap dog. He’s about six years old in dog years and has the the playful exuberance of a typical six year old – in human years. He’s also the first dog I’ve ever had the pleasure to call my own, and I can thanks my wife for that as she adopted him before we met. He’s got an infectious smile, a huge heart, a kind soul, and is alive today thanks to the ASPCA.

Boomer lives comfortably along the Southern California Coast now, but a little less than six years ago he was swimming for his life through the flood-ravaged streets of New Orleans due to horrible effects of Hurricane Katrina. The ASPCA was responsible for rescuing, reuniting, and rehoming more than 8,000 animals stranded from that disaster, and I couldn’t be more thankful that Boomer was one of those dogs. If not for the kindness, dedication, and donations from animal lovers across the country, the ASPCA would not be able to survive – and neither would countless thousands of animals, including Boomer.

Pets are important parts of our families and communities, and animals play a crucial role in the growth and happiness of our society. For all of the positives that can be attributed to our pets (and animals in general), there is one thing they do not have – a voice. That is where the ASPCA steps in. Founded in 1866, they work to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws, and share resources with shelters nationwide. They also save pups like Boomer in times of crises.

I’m proud and excited that Swaggernauts can donate their Swag Bucks this month to help support this wonderful organization. So far, Swag Nation has donated 467,260 Swag Bucks! We’re so close to getting 500,000 Swag Bucks and I know we can make it with your help.  Please click here to turn your Swag Bucks into dollars that will help the ASPCA in their fight to end animal cruelty and help our animal friends that can’t help themselves.

For all of you that make the generous effort to donate Swag Bucks, I thank you, my wife thanks you, Team Swag Bucks thanks you, abused animals across the country thank you, and of course, my pal Boomer thanks you.
