Today’s Team Swag Bucks Song Of The Day tells the story of heartbreak on the horizon. It tells the story of love and loss. In the only real commercial hit he had in his short career, Jeff Buckley tells this age-old story in magnificent fashion.
“Last Goodbye” is the third of ten incredible songs on Buckley’s first album, Grace. I really could have picked any of the other nine songs without thinking twice, but “Last Goodbye” won in the end because of its personal significance to me. That’s right, it was my first breakup song. Many of us have one, but this is mine.
Beyond its personal meaning to me, “Last Goodbye” is a simply amazing song; but even with a flood of critical praise, many people have not been lucky enough to hear Jeff Buckley. Quite frankly, they are missing out on a true genius, a man that just may have had the best voice in history. (Just listen to Hallelujah). I know those are big words, but before you brush me off as crazy, spend the measly 10 Swag Bucks and buy the song. You might just find yourself agreeing with me.
