30 years ago today, one of the most talented musicians and songwriters in history was taken from us way to early. John Lennon’s contributions to Rock n’ Roll can be seen and heard everywhere, and the music he wrote stays with us to this day.
Here’s a song from 1970, among of the first solo singles Lennon released after the Beatles broke up (although George Harrison played the electric guitar and provided some backing vocals; The Beatles still found ways to collaborate and write for one another). In case you didn’t know how good a song writer John was, this song was recorded the same day it was written, and released 10 days later. It’s in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
Ladies and Gentlemen, John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band:
PS – The 45 of this song came with two words of instruction printed above and below the spindle. Put those two words together (with no spaces) and you’ve got yourself a code worth 5 Swag Bucks until 11:15am PST. One catch – one of the words is all caps, one is all lowercase.
