Activity from audible offers

There was a time when meeting your favorite author was just a fantasy. They were a mystery – just their words printed on paper plus a paragraph or two on the back flap of the dust jacket. But the internet has changed all of that. We can now search and find all sorts of past interviews – written, audio and video. Now you can read the words of your favorite author but now add audio and visual to the persona. But we are not limited to carefully crafted response – we can now be on the receiving end of their every whim and witticism, provided it is no longer than 140 characters! Of course I’m talking about twitter.
Now I know you are saying, “Becky, I don’t do twitter because the world does not need to know what I’m doing every five minutes” let me explain. Twitter is an amazing listening device. I use twitter to tap into both local news but also famous people I admire. For example, our author of the month, Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself). Granted, not ever tweet is earth-shattering literary gold but it is also enjoyable to hear some simple responses to real life.
I’ve gathered a list of some popular authors found on twitter including their twitter handles.
Don’t forget the reading selection this month is Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Many of us have chosen to listen to the audiobook, thanks to Audible.com. For a limited time Audible.com is offering 2 FREE Audiobooks + 150 Swag Bucks! This offer of 2 FREE Audiobooks + 150 Swag Bucks is only available right here through the Swagbucks Book Club. I highly recommend one of your audiobook choices is The Ocean at the End of the Lane which is read by the author himself. It is great to hear it read exactly as he intended.
There is still time to download The Ocean at the End of the Lane and listen before we discuss this title next Friday – September 27th at 10am here in the blog. Also, I will be announcing the winner of the Kindle Fire HD! One last thing, enter the Swag Code “ListenUp” in the Swag Code box before 11:30am PT today (9/20/13) for 4 Swag Bucks.
Today’s Discussion: Have you sought out an author on social media? Who and to what result?
Posted by Team Swagbucks on Tue, September 10th, 2013 at 3:00 pmBy the very slimmest of margins, the winner for the Swagbucks Book Club September reading selection is The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. This “captivating tale that is equal parts sweet, sad, and spooky” beat out Dan Brown’s Inferno by a mere 8 votes last weekend. But don’t worry if ... Read More »
