Exactly 29 years ago today, the band Dexy’s Midnight Runners had their single, Come On Eileen, reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.  The chorus of this song was loosely inspired by the song “A Man Like Me” by the 1960s British soul group, Jimmy James and the Vagabonds.  The bridge of the song features an improvised counter-melody which starts out slow but picks up tempo over a vocal backing.  I’m a big fan of this song – it’s fun and upbeat.  Put your overalls on and enjoy!
