Activity from disaster relief

TSGal here, Swaggernauts. I come to this blog and write my column in an effort to help members of Swag Nation with things they may need guidance or advice on. Now, me, TSG and all of Team Swagbucks are asking you to do what you can to help those in Haiti that have had their world turned upside down by a devastating Earthquake.
You guys have been asking questions already which is great and TSG tweeted how your text messages can donate money to help victims. But, with most situations, the best thing you can do to help is educate yourself on what to do.
The American Red Cross is leading the disaster relief effort and urging you to help too.
Here’s a video made by the Director of Emergency Response Operations. Bear in mind, this video was made yesterday so things may have changed here and there, but the message remains the same:
Go to the Red Cross’ website and find out where your donations should go, what is needed aside from money, give blood and above all…spread the word.
The Red Cross isn’t the only agency that’s helping out, here’s a list of agencies you can lend your time, blood, money or clothing to:
• International Medical Corps
Haitian musician, Wyclef Jean has done everything he can to spread the world to help his country. In between flying to the Dominican Republic (no direct flights into Haiti can be found) and lending his hand to the relief, he’s been tweeting like crazy to let you know how to help. I strongly recommend following Wyclef on Twitter to find out more information on what you can do to help. If there was every any good reason to follow a celebrity on Twitter, this is it.
You may think, “what can I do?”, but if you do something to help, that one act makes a difference. Sharing the message and involving others, that also sends a message. I don’t know if you guys know this, but thanks to Twitter and Facebook and the Internet as a whole, the world is getting smaller. In an age where videos of cats running into things and babies eating food and American Idol performances go viral, this should be possible too.
Do what you can. Go to Red Cross, donate something – anything. Text HAITI to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross relief fund or text Yele to 501501 to donate $5. If it’s as simple as donating by sending a text message from your phone that’ll make the slightest change to your phone bill at month’s end…why wouldn’t you do it?
If nothing else could move you to help, think about losing all you own in a matter of minutes because the Earth shook under you. You’ve lost a place to live, friends, family members…
Wouldn’t you want someone to help?
