Saturday Do-It-Yourself: Wonderful Candies Two Ways

Posted by on Sat, December 20th, 2014 at 11:00 am

It’s the last weekend before Christmas and we’ve got a delicious DIY recipe from thantgv, of Edmonton, Alberta Canada!

My name is Gislaine and every Christmas time I get busy in the kitchen making cookies and candies for my family and friends, this recipe is one of my favorites and you can decide if you want to make only one kind of candy or both of them.

Wonderful Candies Two Ways Recipe

Ingredients

For both candies

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 pounds confectioners’ sugar

* For cookies and crème bonbons

  • 1/2 cup cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs
  • 1 pound white candy coating, melted

* For chocolate covered cherries

  • 54 maraschino cherries (about two 10-ounce jars), patted dry
  • 1 pound milk chocolate candy coating, melted

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine butter and milk. Gradually beat in confectioners’ sugar until a smooth dough is formed.
  2. Divide in half; cover with plastic wrap.
  3. For bonbons, stir cookie crumbs into one portion of dough. Shape into 1-in. balls. Dip into white candy coating; allow excess to drip off. Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Chill until firm.
  4. For chocolate-covered cherries, shape remaining portion of dough into 1-in. balls; flatten to 2-in. circles. Wrap each circle around a cherry and gently reshape into a ball. Dip into milk chocolate coating; allow excess to drip off. Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Chill until firm. Store in an airtight container. Yield: 9 dozen

This is how the candies look like and below is a picture of me melting the chocolate.

All we can say is, “YUM!” Thanks for sharing this with us!
