Exactly 24 years ago today, Yazz and the Plastic Population became a chart topper with this song, which went number 1 on the UK Singles Chart for five straight weeks.  This song was written by George Jackson and Johnny Henderson and was originally released in 1980 by soul singer, Otis Clay.  Here is the chart-topping version of The Only Way Is Up.
