TSG’s Fall TV Preview: Part 3!

Posted by on Thu, September 17th, 2009 at 4:30 pm

The third and final part to TSG’s massive Fall TV Preview is upon us. Now is the time when I go over all that paid cable stuff you yearn for. Shows like Dexter and Californication, to name a few.

Here we go…

Curb Your Enthusiasm (September 20th) – Larry David is back with another insane, neurotic season of Curb Your Enthusiasm and it, like seasons past is sure to offend and delight. Can’t wait for this to come back. That same night…

Bored to Death (September 20th) – This show is a highly anticipated new series with quite the cast. The show itself is about a bored (obviously) and unemployed writer who decides to become an amateur private eye. The lead character is played by Jason Schwartzman (Funny People, I Heart Huckabees, Rushmore) and he’s joined by Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis (Out Cold, The Hangover). Also appearing on this series is EVERYONE. Seriously, everyone from Kristen Wiig to Patton Oswalt to Parker Posey, Oliver Platt, and Olivia Thirlby (Juno). Be sure to check this out.

Dexter (September 27th) – Who would’ve thought people would love a serial killer so much? When Michael C. Hall is playing that serial killer, I guess I could see it. This show is addicting. I’ve warned you. Should you start watching this season I can’t be responsible for your productivity as a human being plummeting.

Californication (September 27th) – Maybe one of my favorite shows on TV right now. David Duchovny plays a brilliant writer who just can’t get it right. He womanizes and gets in fights and just finds himself in the most precarious of spots. This modern-day Hemingway with less cats has an eternal flame/pseudo-wife that he just can’t get to commit because of his lack of togetherness and a daughter he has to uncomfortably but lovingly watch grow into a woman. Between those two, his mess of an agent and his own demons, this show offers top notch drama and comedy.

Crash (September 18th) – Starz! is starting to make a run at HBO & Showtime for the premium cable channel original series champ with their recent success of Party Down and this series. Starz!’ series, Crash is a spin-off of the multi-Oscar winning film of the same name from 2004. This series explores racial and socioeconomic tensions in Los Angeles and stars Dennis Hopper (Easy Rider, Speed). Catch this show tomorrow.

There you have it! A full run-down for all your TV watching hours.

Oh hey, if you can find the last name of one of the characters I’ve mentioned in this post who is a writer (the character’s last name, not the actor) it’s worth 2 Swag Bucks for the next half hour (until 6PM PDT) on Swagbucks
