Cuckoo for Coconut

Posted by on Mon, August 29th, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Did you know that coconut oil has an array of uses?  I actually didn’t know this until I came across this article on Good.is.  I wanted to share this with you, because I’m sure many of these tips and tricks can prove to be useful for you.

For Cooking at High Heat

Some oils are not safe at high temperatures, but coconut oil is good for roasting and frying.  It’s even good in the oven for vegetables like carrots, asparagus, broccoli, and others.  It’s also great to use with salmon, as it adds a tasty flavor.

Cheekbone Highlighter

To add a healthy glow to your skin, sweep a little bit on top of your makeup.

Shaving Cream

Coconut oil is great to use for shaving your legs.  You get a really close shave and you don’t have to worry about moisturizing afterwards.

Deep-Conditioning Hair Treatment

If you have damaged ends, this is perfect.  Take a palmful of coconut oil and rub it into your hair.  Comb it through and pile it into a loose bun at the top of your hair.  Sleep in it, and shampoo when you wake up in the morning.  Your hair will look shinier and feel super smooth.

Eye Makeup Remover

Dab a little bit on a cotton ball and sweep it gently over your eye to remove makeup.  It even works great for waterproof mascara!

Body Moisturizer

Use coconut oil as a substitution for lotion after coming out of the shower.  Your skin will feel smooth and the smell will not linger.

Gluten-Free and Vegan Baking

This is a great ingredient for those following a gluten-free or vegan diet.  It tastes delicious, and it helps to mask the chalky taste that you get with a lot of gluten-free baking.

Do you have a tip that uses coconut oil that you’d like to share?
