Little Extra Stories: Everyone’s Favorite BattyJanice

Posted by on Mon, August 3rd, 2015 at 3:00 pm

Janice (Swag Name BattyJanice) came to Swagbucks in October of 2014. She had been doing other GPT sites casually for years. But after her third battle against Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma or Fibrolamellar HCC), and a successful surgery, her financial needs changed drastically.

“Yes, I became cancer free (and still am, so far!), but the financial burden of experimental treatments not covered by insurance, trying to keep my small business afloat, and the everyday costs of my home and a family began mounting. A friend recommended I try Swagbucks and gave me her referral link.  Boy, am I glad I did!”

While people often think small business owners are swimming in cash, but most small business owners l understand the struggles to stay above water better than the average person. For Janice it comes down to this –  her employees all make more income than she does. Her business is fairly specialized, and her employees all have specialized skills and training. Skills and training not in great demand in her area. So keeping her business afloat means she can pay bills and the salaries of 5 other people who would have to relocate across the country or get jobs outside of their specialized fields otherwise. For Janice, taking care of herself, her family and helping her employees stay in the city they love, near their family and friends is very very important.

So how does Swagbucks help?

“It doesn’t pay all of the bills or medical costs. It doesn’t cover my out of pocket expenses for my company. But it does provide the kind of little extra cash that goes a long long way, both for me and for everyone I care about. Plus I really enjoy the contests, Team Challenges & the new friends I’ve made. Earning on Swagbucks is really really fun.”

Janice continues:

“Maybe my story is not the most heart-wrenching. Maybe not the most heart-warming. But it is my story, and I hope it teaches someone something good. And please… if nothing else, I hope it encourages someone to support the American Cancer Society, the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation or at least read and learn about this rare form of cancer. AT the very least, I hope it  gets folks to remember that we all have a story. That we are  all unique, and all important. Just as each and every one of us is important in this world. :)
